Rick Butler is the Practice Head of the Real Estate section at RMWBH. His practice primarily involves residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. In most cases, Rick becomes involved in a development very early on, before the land to be developed has been platted or subdivided. He drafts all documents necessary to affect the client’s overall plan, including restrictions, association documents, conveyance documents, easements, agreements with MUDs and the like. In some instances, he has been involved in projects for as long as 15-20 years given the size of the development and the period of time to fully develop the land.
Rick has practiced real estate law since 1980. He is most passionate about being part of a developer’s team and witnessing the conceptual plan eventually come to fruition, but he also enjoys working with fellow attorneys and staff in his section at RMWBH.
Rick received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance at the University of Houston in 1973 and his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 1975. Rick is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate and Property Owners Association Law. Rick has also been named in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Lawyers list for Real Estate Law each year since 2018.
